When you try and edit your group's settings or step down as organizer from one of your groups, you may face a blocking error saying “The page you're looking for doesn't exist". When this happens, there may be two possible explanations:
- Your group's name contains special characters or letters from other alphabets. If you created your group including special characters or letters from other alphabets, this may be messing with the platform once you try and edit your group. We're working on a fix to prevent this issue in the future, but in the meantime we advise you to change your group's URL to avoid this inconvenience by following these few steps:
- Access your Meetup account from a laptop or computer (this procedure isn't available on Meetup's app yet)
- From your Meetup group's homepage, select Manage group.
- Select Edit group settings.
- Click on Basic Information.
- Scroll to the "Where" section.
- Enter your proposed URL in the field, eliminating special characters or symbols.
- Scroll down and click Save.
- Your group's name is still the same, but its URL has now changed!
- You're facing another kind of bug. If you checked your group's name and URL and they don't contain any unusual characters, you might be facing a different bug. In this case, please reach out to our Support and make sure you provide the following:
- A link to the group that's affected by this error message
- A screenshot of the error you see or a screen recording of the whole process you're following to edit your group, including the error message that appears
- If you're on desktop, specify the browser you're using (Chrome, Firefox, Safari...)
- If you're on mobile, specify your device's model and the app version you're currently on
