I'm trying to add an existing location or venue for my event, but Meetup doesn't find it.

Note: we recently discovered and fixed a bug that prevented organizers from creating new locations or venues for their events. You should now be able to add and save new venues normally in both the web and mobile app versions.

If the problem continues, please ensure you share the following details when reaching out to us, so to verify if the fix is fully effective across all platforms:

  • screenshot or screen recording showing what happens when you try to add a new location or venue.
  • Whether the issue occurs on the webiOS app, or Android app.

If you tried setting the exact address of a location for one of your groups or events and the selection you made didn’t apply or the location you tried to set couldn’t be found, you can work around the issue in two ways:

  • Insert another location that’s as close as possible to the one you were looking for. If you’re trying this workaround for one of your events as organizer, you can then specify in the event’s description the precise location of your event. Alternatively, if you don’t want the location to be publicly visible, you can use one of our improved communication tools to communicate the exact venue to your event’s attendees.

  • Try switching between Meetup’s website and mobile app. If the issue with the location change occurs on the app, try the same procedure on web and vice-versa.

We understand the workaround above isn’t a perfect solution for the issue you’re experiencing, and we’d like to reassure you we’re already on the case! This is a known issue we’re tackling and we’re doing our best to fix in the shortest delay.
