Even if you turn off all email updates, Meetup will still send you important emails regarding policy updates, or any changes to your subscription or member dues, as well as notifications about group discussions in groups you’re a member of. Such notifications cannot be turned off and members can't unsubscribe from receiving them.
If the emails you're receiving fall within this case, the only way to stop receiving them is to deactivate your account by following the instructions available in the article Deactivating an account. Before doing so, consider that deactivating an account is a permanent action and cannot be undone. If you decide to join Meetup in the future, you’ll need to create a new account.
In all other cases, you're welcome to verify your notifications settings and limit the ones you receive by following the steps included in the articles Editing my push notification settings and Editing my email settings.
If the issue you're encountering is an error message when you click the Unsubscribe button in one of the emails you receive from Meetup or if the same button is unresponsive, we can suggest to try the following steps:
-
Change device to access the email you received. Try accessing the same email from a different device: if the issue is occurring on mobile, try accessing the email on desktop and vice-versa. Sometimes, changing platform makes a difference!
- Reach out to our Customer Support to report the bug. When doing so, please make sure you send us a screenshot of the email you received including the header and a screenshot of any error messages you may see.
