Using komoot routes in your Meetup events (Beta feature)

Meetup organizers can now integrate komoot hiking and outdoor routes directly into their events. This feature allows you to add a komoot link that is automatically displayed as a rich, visual preview on your event page.

๐Ÿ‘‰ This feature is currently in beta.

What is komoot?

komoot is an outdoor planning tool that helps you create and share routes for activities like hiking and other outdoor sports. komoot routes include helpful details such as:

  • Interactive maps

  • Elevation profiles and difficulty levels

  • Distance, duration, and surface type

  • Points of interest (for example, restaurants, viewpoints, or landmarks)

  • Tips and recommendations from the komoot community

๐Ÿ’ก Adding a komoot route to your event helps members better understand what to expect before they RSVP.

Who can use this feature?

At the moment, komoot integration is available only if:

  • Your group belongs to the Travel & Outdoor category

  • You are viewing Meetup on the web (not the mobile apps)

Support for the Meetup mobile apps will be added as part of the full rollout.

How to add a komoot route to your event

You can add a komoot route in either of the following ways:

Option 1: Add the link to your event description

  1. Create or edit your event.

  2. Access komoot and look for the route youโ€™d like to include in your event

  3. Copy the komoot route link

  4. Paste the komoot route link directly into the event description.

Option 2: Use the dedicated komoot section

  1. Create or edit your event.

  2. Access komoot and look for the route youโ€™d like to include in your event

  3. Copy the komoot route link

  4. Paste the komoot route link into the komoot section on the event page.

๐Ÿ’ก Once added, the komoot link will automatically render as a visual preview on the event page.

How members see the komoot route

When viewing the event on the Meetup website, members will see:

  • A preview of the route map

  • Key route details such as distance and elevation

  • A link to view the full route on komoot

โ—๏ธThis preview is currently visible on web only.
