Can I get a discount on my subscription or waive the next payment?
At the moment, Meetup does not offer permanent promotions, special discounts, or reduced subscription prices for organizer plans.
Moreover, we can't provide an additional discount if a discount or promotion — for instance, a discount to create your first group — is already applied to your account. To make an example, we can't guarantee that a discount coupon that was applied to your first Standard subscription will be re-applied if you upgrade to Meetup Pro, as the coupon was already used.
👉 Occasionally, Meetup may apply promotional codes during campaigns or special events. When this happens, we’ll update our website and notify organizers.
Current options for starting a subscription
If you’re just getting started, you can:
Use our Starter organizer subscription to create your first group for free (with limited features).
-
Take advantage of one-time free trials or kick-off discounts when beginning a Standard organizer plan or PRO organizer plan.
Can I get a discount if I have a nonprofit organization?
Meetup does not generally provide special rates or permanent discounts for organizers.
However, if you’re a nonprofit organization interested in starting a Pro subscription, we sometimes offer special rates. If this applies to you, provide our Support team with:
Confirmation that you already have a 6-month Pro subscription (note that, if you're on a Standard or Starter plan, you will be required to upgrade to a 6-month Pro subscription.)
(for US-based organizations only) proof of registration under 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) of the IRS Code (it can also be a link to your website indicating you are a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization).
Proof that proof that your organization has a .org website.
Once our team received the necessary elements, we’ll evaluate your request individually.
Ways to lower the cost if you’re already an organizer
If you already have a paid organizer subscription and are looking to offset the expense:
💡 Collecting Member Dues
Invite group members to contribute dues that can cover your subscription and other expenses, such as venues, supplies, or refreshments.
💡 Charging Event Fees
Set a fee for event attendance. This can help offset costs like speaker payments, venue rentals, or your ongoing organizer subscription.
