At this time, Meetup does not offer a feature that automatically merges two Meetup groups. Because of our Privacy Policy, members must choose to join groups themselves. This means that neither organizers nor the Meetup Community Support team are able to add members to a group on their behalf.
However, if you’d like to bring two communities together, there is a simple manual workaround you can follow.
How to Combine Two Meetup Groups (Manual Workaround)
Choose the primary group. Decide which group will remain active going forward (Group 1) and which group you plan to close (Group 2).
Notify the members of the group you’re closing. Reach out to the members of Group 2 to let them know that the group will be closing soon. You can invite them to join Group 1 if they’d like to stay involved in future events. You can consider providing a soft deadline to close your second group and communicate it to the members of that group.
Close the secondary group. Once you’re ready, you can close Group 2. For detailed instructions, see our guide: How to close your Meetup group.
Can I transfer past events and content from Group 2 to Group 1?
No, event history and content cannot be transferred from one group to another.
Meetup does not support transferring event history, photos, discussions, or other content from one group to another. If there’s any information in Group 2 that you want to keep, we recommend saving it before submitting your request to close the group.
If you have questions about this process or need help with next steps, our support team is here to assist.
