Blocking on Web and Mobile: What to Expect
Keep in mind that when you block a member, your experience will vary slightly by platform.
🖥️ Desktop Web
Your chat stays in your Active Chats, but becomes read-only.
The blocked member can’t see it in Active or Archived Chats.
📱On mobile
The chat remains in your Active list but shows as locked (with an “Unblock” option).
The blocked member loses access to both Active and Archived Chats.
Even if they try to message you by other means, their messages won’t be delivered.
What happens if a person I blocked has Meetup+? Can they see my profile or message me?
No. We take the security of our members very seriously, which is why personalized privacy settings always take precedence. No matter their subscription status, a person that you have blocked will not be able to see your profile details or send you any direct messages.
