As an organizer, you always have the chance to set up dues to be part of your group, and members who wish to join it will be required to pay the fee you set up for them.
If you wish, you can enable a free trial period for them to be able to join your group for free for a limited period of time and then be required to pay their dues if they wish to stay. Once the trial period ends, members who didn't pay the requested fee will be automatically removed from your group and will be required to pay if they try and join it again in the future.
However, you may sometimes see members still available in your group even though they haven't paid to be part of it. The following troubleshooting steps can help you understand why this happens:
- Ensure you've enabled a free trial period. First off, make sure you have indeed enabled a free trial period for your group and that it has elapsed. To verify this, you're welcome to follow the steps listed in the article Setting member dues.
- Verify if members are in Grace status. It's possible that the first payment attempts failed and caused Stripe to retry a few times. During this period, members are still allowed to stay in your group, as their payments are being processed, and their status is marked as Grace so you can recognize who has been having troubles with their payments before you take any actions. The Grace status can last for up to two weeks.
- Get in touch with the members who didn't pay to stay in your group. Once you have completed the first two steps, you may consider getting in touch with the members who still haven't paid to stay in your group. Reach out to them via direct message and kindly explain why paying dues is required to be part of your group and what happens if they don't comply with this requirement. A direct and kind conversation on this often clears out doubts and incomprehensions!
