If you waive membership fees for your Meetup group after previously requiring payment, members who were removed for not paying dues will not automatically be restored to your group.
Once the payment trial expires, unpaid members are removed from the group and remain out, even if you turn off membership dues. You can access the list of unpaid members who were removed from your group by checking the Awaiting dues members list.
This happens because dues are intended to be paid by your entire membership base and those members who don't comply with your payment request are automatically removed from your group, while those that do agree to pay to stay in your group are granted their membership.
If you'd like to have those members reinstated as participants to your group, you can request our Customer Support to manually reinstate them. When you do, don't forget to specify:
If you'd like to reinstate all unpaid members or only some
If you have already turned off dues for your group
βοΈIf you plan to charge membership dues again in the future, please note that unpaid members will be removed after the payment period ends. If you're not ready for a part of your member base to leave the group, consider not setting up dues or setting up lower fees so to encourage a larger portion of members to pay.
