Some groups require members to pay dues. Organizers may use their members’ dues to offset costs associated with leading a group.
Most groups have a red Join group button on the homepage. Groups that require dues can be identified by a variation of this button that says Request to join.
A pop-up will show the dues cost, how often it will be collected, and the number of trial days before you'll be charged. Click Start trial to enter your payment information.
When will I be charged?
Organizers can set a trial period for members to attend events before paying dues.
Meetup automatically sends an email update 7 days and 1 day before your trial expires, reminding you to enter your credit card information. You can enter your payment details at any time during your trial. You’ll be charged at the end of your trial period.
It is not possible to pay dues before your trial ends.
Review the status of your dues payments at any time on your account’s Payments Made page.
What happens if I don't pay my dues?
Members who don’t provide payment details or whose payments fail are automatically removed from the group.
If you’d like to rejoin, click the red Pay dues button on the group homepage. You’ll be prompted to pay and will not have another trial period.
