Reporting a Meetup group or event

Our Trust and Safety team carefully reviews all reports regarding groups and events. Based on our policies and Community Guidelines, we take appropriate action as needed, but we do not disclose the outcomes of these reviews to protect our members' privacy.

How to Report a Group

Desktop & Mobile Web

1. Visit the Group Homepage: Navigate to the homepage of the group you wish to report.

2. Access the Reporting Option: If you are a group member, click Manage membership. Non-members should click the three-dot icon instead.

3. Submit Your Report:

   • Select Report this group.
   • Choose the reason for your report.
   • Confirm your selection by clicking Continue and follow the instructions.

Android & iOS App

1. Open the Group Homepage: Launch the group’s page within the app.

2. Access the Reporting Option: Tap the three-dots icon in the upper right-hand corner.

3. Submit Your Report:

   • Select Report this group from the drop-down menu.
   • Choose the reason for your report and tap Next.
   • Enter any additional information you believe is relevant, then tap Report.

How to Report an Event

You can report an event either before it happens or after it has already taken place. The steps are slightly different depending on the timing.

Reporting an Event Before the Event Date (Desktop & Mobile Web)

1. Go to the event homepage on the Meetup website.

2. Scroll down the page.

3. Locate the Report event option at the bottom of the screen.

4. Select it and follow the prompts to submit your report.

Reporting an Event After the Event Has Happened (Desktop & Mobile Web)

You have two ways to report an event once it has already taken place:

1. From the feedback prompt:

   1. Go to the event homepage of the past event.

   2. At the top of the page, you’ll see a prompt inviting you to submit feedback.

   3. Within this prompt, select the Report event button and follow the instructions.

2. From the Report option on the event page:

   1. As mentioned above, you can also use the Report option on the event page itself (the same method available before the event).

As local governments announce that meeting in person is safe, Meetup will support community efforts to host events. If you notice an issue with an event, please use the steps above to report it so that we can ensure the safety and quality of our community experience.
