This process enables you to permanently delete your Meetup account and erase all associated personal data.
Account deletion and data erasure are irreversible. Once completed, your account can’t be restored.
✅ Before you start
Before submitting a deletion request, make sure the following requirements are met. Requests that don’t meet these conditions may not be completed.
Cancel any active Meetup+ or Organizer subscriptions.
Step down as organizer or permanently close all groups you manage.
How to delete your account and personal data
Meetup processes requests to delete personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR.
To request permanent deletion of your account and all personal data, submit a request through our Privacy and Data Management Form.
Follow these steps on a desktop computer:
Log in to the account you want to delete.
Click your profile icon (top right) and select Settings.
In the left menu, choose Account Management.
Scroll to the bottom and click Submit GDPR Request.
In the form, select “I want to delete my data.”
If you want to download a copy of your personal data instead, select “Send me a copy of my data.” You may learn more in this dedicated article.
What happens after you submit your request
After your request is verified:
Your Meetup account and personal data will be permanently deleted.
Some data may be retained only if required by law. If so, you’ll be informed of the reason and legal basis.
Once deletion is complete, the data can’t be recovered.
Additional steps for Meetup+ subscribers and organizers
To ensure your deletion request can be completed, confirm the following before submitting it.
Cancel your subscription
Go to Settings → Meetup+ Subscription or Organizer Subscription.
Select Cancel subscription.
If you subscribed to either a Meetup+ or Organizer plan via Google or Apple, you can cancel it by following the steps in this dedicated article.
Step down or close your groups
During cancellation, choose whether to:
Transfer the group to another member, or
Permanently close the group.
Confirm your choice in the confirmation banner, then proceed with your data deletion request.
