Member-to-member direct messaging is an exclusive Meetup+ feature.
Instead, all (free and paying alike) members can:
- Can use the Messages feature to communicate with their group(s) leadership team members—this include organizers, co-organizers, assistant organizers, and event hosts.
- Use Group Discussions and Event Comments, our other communication tools.
If you're a Meetup+ member, you can contact another member (regardless of their subscription) with the following steps.
Desktop & mobile web
- From a group's member list, go to the profile of the member you’d like to contact.
- Click the message icon next to the member’s name.
- Compose your message and hit Send.
iOS & Android apps
- From a group's member list, tap the message icon next to the member's name.
- Type up your message and tap Send.
If a member’s message button is not clickable or missing, they may have privacy settings that prevent you from messaging them.
To receive message alerts instantly, ensure you have the latest versions of our mobile app. It is not currently possible to delete messages, but you can archive them.
