Domestic and international tax information.

  • Meetup is required to collect sales tax along with subscription payments as required by state sales tax laws. Sales tax is calculated based on the cost of your current subscription. Visit usa.gov for more tax information.

    Organizers will see U.S. sales tax in addition to their subscription price on their receipt when their subscription renews.

    View your payment information

    U.S. sales taxes are clearly noted on your payment history when your subscription renews. You can go to the Organizer Subscription section in your settings to view your payment history, see your current plan and upcoming payments, or update your credit card information.

    Exemptions from U.S. state sales tax

    Tax-exempt organizations can use this form to submit state-issued tax exemption documents.

    To submit your information using the form:

    1. Log in to your account.
    2. Select Tax Inquiry from the drop-down menu.
    3. Select the USA.
    4. Enter your tax exemption certificate number.
    5. Enter your group name and business name.
    6. Enter your state and billing address.
    7. Attach exemption forms and any supporting documentation required by your state.
    8. Click Submit.

    You will receive a confirmation email and our tax team will review your documentation. The review process may take up to two months.

  • Meetup is required to collect Value-Added Tax (VAT) or Goods and Services Tax (GST) from non-business organizers depending on their location. Taxes are calculated based on the cost of your current subscription.

    VAT and GST are clearly noted on your payment history when your subscription renews. You can go to the Organizer Subscription section in your settings to view your payment history, see your current plan and upcoming payments, or update your credit card information.

    Businesses: Removal of VAT or GST charge

    If you are using your Meetup subscription for your business, and your business is registered for VAT or GST purposes, you can submit your business name and Intra-Community VAT number / ABN using this form to remove the VAT / GST charge.

    New organizers can add a VAT Number or ABN when they start a subscription.

    To submit your information using the form:

    1. Log in to your account.
    2. Select Tax Inquiry from the drop-down menu.
    3. Select your country.
    4. Enter your VAT ID number or Australian Business Number (ABN).
    5. Enter your group name and business name.
    6. Click Submit.

    Once we receive your information, you will receive a confirmation email.
