Meetup enables to all users to select which notifications they receive and on which device they'd prefer to receive them.
Email updates are delivered to your email address inbox.
Push notifications appear on your mobile device.
On-site notifications are seen in the notifications tab in the Meetup app or in the notifications on the Meetup website.
In most cases, when you enable a push notification you’ll no longer receive the email that corresponds to that notification. If you'd prefer to receive an email update, make sure to opt out receiving that type of push notification.
Depending on their account settings, members will receive notifications of varying importance and interest. Because of this, members may not consistently receive notifications via email or push notification. While it may seem counterintuitive to send fewer emails and push notifications to members, we've learned that fewer and more impactful notifications result in more members RSVPing to events and fewer members unsubscribing from notifications altogether.
Furthermore, if a member would never open an email from Meetup, the system automatically recognizes it and avoids sending other communications.
You can always manage which email updates and push notifications you receive.
