We want you to use our API to facilitate the development of community-group related applications using Meetup data and developer tools. Reasonable commercial uses of the API are permitted. Section 5.8 of our Terms of Service grants to developers a limited license to use our API. Unreasonable commercial uses of the API are not permitted. Be sure to respect our members and enhance their experience. Below are some examples of what is acceptable.
“Reasonable commercial uses” generally are those that enhance the Meetup experience or create specialized versions of our platform or aspects of our platform or build around the functionality of the platform. Examples of some things that could be reasonable commercial uses are: charging users for functionality on an application that is not available on the Platform or charging users for portions of an application that do not integrate with the Meetup API.
“Unreasonable commercial uses" generally are those that substantially replicate our platform or significant aspects of the platform, disrupt the Meetup experience or mislead, confuse, or surprise members. Examples of some things that could be unreasonable commercial uses are:
- caching data for an extended length of time so that it is not current and accurate
- selling, leasing, or sublicensing our API
- charging for access to Information of members
- charging users for portions of an application that integrate with the Meetup API.
