Starting on July 18, 2024, message boards and event chat will no longer be available.
We’re working to make Meetup’s suite of communication tools more intuitive and reliable. Currently, Meetup offers five distinct communication tools, several of which address the same needs:
- Discussions
- Event chat
- Event comments
- Message boards
- DMs
Going forward, we intend to streamline our existing offering to reduce overlap and focus on a smaller number of more structured tools to better support your day-to-day community interactions.

Here’s what these changes mean for you:
Message board will now be replaced by Discussions. Check out this article to learn more about the Discussions feature
Event comments will replace Event chat as main communication tool for your event(s).

Event chat Although there’s currently no one-click solution to export your event chats, you can take screenshots or pictures of your past conversations to store them for future reference after the feature is removed on July 18. |
