If you wish to erase your Meetup account and remove your personal information, please remember that this process is permanent and irreversible!
Once an account has been erased, it can’t be reinstated.
What happens when you send your account erasure request?
Here’s a quick recap of what happens as soon as you send the Meetup data and account erasure request:
- If you’re a member, your request is processed as soon as possible by sending out a confirmation.
- If you’re an organizer, after you follow the instructions below, your request is processed as soon as possible and your decision on your group(s) will be followed and respected by sending out a confirmation.
- If you’re an organizer but you create an event or RSVP to an event within 14 days of submitting your erasure request, your request will be withdrawn.
How do I submit an account and data erasure request?
Are you a member?
If you’re a member and want to permanently erase all your Meetup data and account by yourself, you can:
- In your profile settings in the Meetup app, click on Delete account and personal information and flag the Yes, I want to delete my account information confirmation. This will acknowledge Meetup of your decision.
- Alternatively, submit your request by filling out this form while logged in to your Meetup account.
Are you a Meetup+ subscriber?
If you’re a Meetup+ subscriber and want to erase all your Meetup data and account, you need to:

Cancel your Meetup+ subscription by:
- Log in to your account on Meetup
- Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen, then Settings
- Click Meetup+ Subscription on the list of options on the left
- Click Cancel subscription

Erase your Meetup data by yourself by clicking on Delete account and personal information profile settings in the Meetup app and flag the Yes, I want to delete my account information confirmation. This will acknowledge Meetup of your decision.

Or, send your erasure request by filling out this form while logged in to your Meetup account.
Are you an Organizer?
If you’re an organizer, these 2 steps must be followed before proceeding with the erasure request:

Make a decision whether to leave your group(s) open or close them.
Whether you decide to transfer your groups to someone else or close them entirely, please follow these steps before submitting an account erasure request:
- Let your members know you intend to close the group(s), so everyone has time to save any photos or reach out to other members.
- Open the group you’d like to close in your Meetup account and click on Manage Group.
- Tap on Transfer group ownership.
- Choose whether to transfer the group to another member who could step up as new organizer or click on Do you want to close your group instead?.
- Follow the further cancelation questions and steps.
- At the end of the whole process, click on Close group permanently.
- As soon as the flow has ended, you’ll see a green banner confirming your group's cancellation.

Cancel your Organizer subscription:
- Go to your Organizer Subscription page.
- Click Cancel subscription.
- On the next page, click Cancel my subscription at the bottom of the page.

After following the steps above, you can submit your erasure request by either:
- Clicking on Delete account and personal information profile settings in the Meetup app and flag the Yes, I want to delete my account information confirmation. This will acknowledge Meetup of your decision.
- Or, filling out this form while logged in to your Meetup account. Note that you can access the erasure form only if you’re logged into your account.
